23,000 people say no to Buzzard control licenses being issued in Scotland
20 June 2013
The SOC visited the Scottish Parliament at Holyrood today, to join with Lewis Davies in presenting Environment Minister Paul Wheelhouse (both pictured), with a 23,000-name petition against Buzzard control licences being issued in Scotland.
In a press release later issued by Lewis in partnership with the SOC and RSPB Scotland, SOC President Ken Shaw commented: “The SOC was happy to officially support Lewis Davies’ petition against the licenced control of Buzzards in Scotland. We are rightly proud of our birds of prey; they are a great draw for many visitors to our country. Allowing the culling of one of our native predators, after decades of persecution, would do a great deal of harm to our international reputation”.
