Vacancy for Breeding Bird Surveyor
Heritage Environmental Ltd is seeking an experienced ecologist to work on a large-scale breeding bird survey project. The position will be based in the Aberfeldy area.
The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years experience in a consultancy background or similar, specialising in birds. You must have excellent field skills and knowledge of British breeding birds, including their songs and calls. You should have experience of various bird survey techniques, including Moorland Bird Survey, Breeding Bird Survey and species-specific methods for raptors, grouse and waterfowl.
You must be self motivated and have good time management skills. You must be computer literate with a sound knowledge of Microsoft products and some knowledge of GIS (preferred). A full clean driving licence is essential. A vehicle and accommodation will be provided as part of the post. You should be a graduate in a relevant discipline (e.g. ecology, nature conservation, environmental management, etc.). Membership of the IEEM is preferred.
Pay: The post will be a 3-5 month contract. Pay will be dependent on experience. Starting date 1st April 2010.
