SOC conferences

The SOC organises two conferences for its members each year; an Annual Conference (including the club's AGM) in October or November, and a Scottish Birdwatchers' Conference in March, organised by a branch in conjunction with the BTO.

2008 Annual Conference

Past Conferences

The 2008 SOC/BTO Scottish Birdwatchers' Conference, entitled "Birds of Moor and Mountain", was held at Birnam Arts & Conference Centre, Birnam, on Saturday 15th March.

The 2007 Annual Conference was held from 2nd-4th November at the Duke of Gordon Hotel, Kingussie. The theme was the forthcoming "Birds of Scotland" book.

The 2007 SOC/BTO Scottish Birdwatchers' Conference, entitled "Borders Birds", was held at the Eastgate Theatre, Peebles, on Sunday 18th March.

The 2006 Annual Conference was held from 20th-22nd October at the Duke of Gordon Hotel, Kingussie. The theme was "A Birding Cruise of the Scottish Islands".

The 2006 SOC/BTO Scottish Birdwatchers' Conference, entitled "Bird Conservation Counts: The Challenge of Change", was held at the Western Infirmary Lecture Theatre, University of Glasgow, on Saturday 18th March.

The 2005 Annual Conference was held from 28-30 October at the Balavil Sport Hotel, Newtonmore, Speyside, and had a theme of "Birds Across the Continents".

The 2005 SOC/BTO Scottish Birdwatchers' Conference, entitled "The Wings of Change", was held at the Royal Botanic Garden, Edinburgh on Saturday 12th March.

The 2004 Annual Conference was held over the weekend of 29th to 31st October at the Balavil Sport Hotel in Newtonmore, Speyside.

The 2004 SOC/BTO Scottish Birdwatchers' Conference was held at Pathfoot Building, University of Stirling on Saturday 13th March.

The 2003 Annual Conference was held over the weekend of 31st October to 2nd November at the Balavil Sport Hotel in Newtonmore, Speyside. The theme of the conference was "Picturing Birds".

The 2003 SOC/BTO Scottish Birdwatchers' Conference was held at James Watt College's North Ayrshire Campus at Kilwinning, Ayrshire on Saturday 15th March.

The 2002 Annual Conference was held on the weekend of 1st to 3rd November at the Balavil Sport Hotel in Newtonmore, Speyside.

The 2002 SOC/BTO Scottish Birdwatchers' Conference was held in Stirling on 6th April.

The 2001 Annual Conference was held on the weekend of 26th-28th October at the Balavil Sport Hotel in Newtonmore, Speyside. The conference had a theme of "Ours birds overseas".

The 2001 SOC/BTO Scottish Birdwatchers' Conference was scheduled to be held at the Heriot Watt University, Galashiels, Borders on Saturday 17th March, but was cancelled.

The 2000 Annual Conference was held over the weekend of 3rd-5th November at the Balavil Sport Hotel in Newtonmore, Speyside.

The 2000 SOC/BTO Scottish Birdwatchers' Conference was held in March, and had a theme of "Birds of Dumfries & Galloway - changing populations".
