SOC datasets on the NBN Gateway
The Scottish Recorders' Network has been working closely with the National Biodiversity Network to upload bird records onto the NBN Gateway website. The website acts as a shop window and one-stop shop for planners, councillors, conservation agencies etc who need to know what datasets are available when they are involved in planning decisions.
The SOC has loaded several datasets, comprising over 260,000 individual records, onto the NBN Gateway. These include the results from tetrad atlas surveys of Clyde, Fife, Lothian & Borders, and NE Scotland, and bird records for the Highland recording area for 2002/03.
This page accesses the NBN Gateway 'behind the scenes' to plot distribution maps of bird species, based on the SOC's datasets. Note that the regions plotted are Vice-counties rather than local recording areas, but the drop-down list also shows the corresponding recording areas.
