Scottish Raptor Monitoring Scheme
The SOC has been a partner in the Scottish Raptor Monitoring Scheme (SRMS) since its inception in 2002, along with Scottish Natural Heritage, the Scottish Raptor Study Groups, BTO Scotland, RSPB Scotland, the Rare Breeding Birds Panel, the Joint Nature Conservation Committee and most recently Forestry Commission Scotland. The Scheme currently focuses primarily on the annual monitoring of the abundance, distribution and breeding successes of 19 raptor species in Scotland. The Scheme produces the annual Raptor Report and is heavily inolved in national surveys of Schedule one species. It has also produced the publication Raptors, A Fieldguide for Surveys and Monitoring which is regarded as a standard work in this field.
