Evening talks programme

At each meeting, an invited speaker gives an illustrated talk on their chosen subject lasting approximately an hour, usually with a break for tea/coffee and biscuits. The talks are predominantly about birds but other flora and fauna are often included, together with some spectacular scenery. The talks are designed to be enjoyed by people with any level of interest in birds and are suitable for most age groups. There is no charge for entry or refreshments although donations are always welcome.

IDENTIFYING BIRD SONG WALK
Tues 6 June 2017, 7pm, all welcome!

Jeni Grover will be leading a walk through Aldouran Glen for “Identifying Bird Song” at 7pm on Tuesday 6 June, meeting at the main gateway to the Aldouran Wetland Gardens

So many of us listen to the bird song but fail to identify which species is producing it so this is a great opportunity to go with someone who can “point us in the right direction” and help us to improve this aspect of our birding.

The weather forecast looks good and with a fair breeze so that should keep the midges away although some midge repellent would be a good idea. The path is reasonably good and not difficult but it would be wise to wear sensible footwear.

For anyone unfamiliar with Aldouran, it is a lovely Garden leading through a Wetland area to Aldouran Glen. It lies on the outskirts of Leswalt; there is parking at the top of the service road and disabled parking outside the entrance. there is also parking and a map giving directions outside Leswalt Village Hall. If anyone needs more guidance regarding Aldouran’s location, please contact Jean (SOC West Galloway Committee Member) on 01776 870685 or at geoff.roddens@btinternet.com

Hope to see you there!
