Evening talks programme

At each meeting, an invited speaker gives an illustrated talk on their chosen subject lasting approximately an hour, usually with a break for tea/coffee and biscuits. The talks are predominantly about birds but other flora and fauna are often included, together with some spectacular scenery. The talks are designed to be enjoyed by people with any level of interest in birds and are suitable for most age groups. There is no charge for entry or refreshments although donations are always welcome.

Andy Howard – Give me a ‘High Five’: A detailed look at five specialist species found in the Cairngorms

Give me a ‘High Five’ features a myriad of images all taken in the magnificent Cairngorms. You will transported through each season and its diverse weather. The true stars of the show though are the cheeky and gregarious Crested Tits, the aggressive but handsome Black Grouse, the hardy Ptarmigan, the characterful Mountain Hare and the dainty Dotterel.

Andy is a professional wildlife photographer and guide bases in Inverness; most of his time is spent in the Cairngorms, especially when photographing his beloved Mountain Hares and Ptarmigan. Bad weather doesn’t put Andy off and some of his most striking images have been captured in inclement conditions. Five years ago Andy made a conscious decision to specialise in a few select species and aims to work with these as ongoing projects, therefore capturing the subjects in all conditions during all four seasons.
