West Galloway branch
Evening talks programme
At each meeting, an invited speaker gives an illustrated talk on their chosen subject lasting approximately an hour, usually with a break for tea/coffee and biscuits. The talks are predominantly about birds but other flora and fauna are often included, together with some spectacular scenery. The talks are designed to be enjoyed by people with any level of interest in birds and are suitable for most age groups. There is no charge for entry or refreshments although donations are always welcome.

On the following Tuesdays at 7.30pm:
09 Feb 2016 – ‘The Birds of Bute’, Ron Forrester
Ron will be using photographs to illustrate his talk about the diverse avifauna to be found on the Isle of Bute; a wonderful place for birds throughout the year, with each changing season bringing a new dimension to the birdlife of the island. He will discuss distribution and the changing fortunes of many species over the years, with some decreasing in numbers, but others increasing.
Ron was lead editor of The Birds of Scotland (published 2007) and is Secretary of the Scottish Birds Records Committee’s Scottish List Subcommittee. He has lived on Bute for 24 years and was lead author of The Birds of Bute (published 2013). Ron has travelled extensively in search of birds, but has spent much time watching and photographing birds on the Isle of Bute.
