Join SWLA members, Kittie Jones and John Threlfall, for a one-day workshop that explores the exciting compositional dynamics and picture-making possibilities that can be enjoyed when using birds as a focal point in art.
Both John and Kittie are experienced and enthusiastic teachers, valuing the strength inherent in paintings and prints that are well composed, and all can benefit from their knowledge of the factors and relationships that work within the space of the picture rectangle.
This is a great opportunity to study the use of the ideas in the painting and print making that feature in the Society’s exhibition, which will provide the backdrop during the indoor element of the workshop. However, the aim will be to head outdoors (please bring plenty layers!) for a short period to fuel some sketchbook ideas before developing these into a painting back in the warmth of Waterston House. Participants should bring cartridge paper and pencils/charcoal, for working in the field, and their choice of painting medium and tools for developing a more finished piece back indoors.
A maximum of ten places are available in order to maximise 1:1 time.
On top of those items listed above, please make sure to bring along a packed lunch. Tea/coffee will be supplied.
