The SOC is delighted to host a demonstration by acclaimed artist and watercolourist, Darren Woodhead (Swarovski/Birdwatch magazine Artist of the Year 2009) at Waterston House, SOC Headquarters.

Darren will give a demonstration of his watercolour painting techniques and will share his experiences of working in the field from direct observation. Darren's way of working is quite unique. With the outdoors for a studio, all of his works are painted entirely in the field, purely in watercolours and direct in brush. Find out how this immediacy, freshness and spontaneity excites him.

"...Few artists alive today have such skills at their fingertips, and not many have had it in the past. This is what makes his achievements so exceptional and his paintings so full of life and light. And the extraordinary thing is that this light is nothing more than plain white paper."

Julian Spalding, Author; Former Director of Glasgow Museums and Art Galleries
