This one day workshop is a unique opportunity to learn from Darren Woodhead, one of the most experienced field artists working today, about how to paint from life in watercolour and coincides with Darren's exhibition at the centre. The workshop is aimed at people with some experience of watercolours, but it is also accessible to beginners. The morning session will be devoted to a brief talk and demonstration, before participants put brush to paper. After lunch (weather permitting), Darren will lead the group outside, to paint outdoors in the surroundings of Waterston House, Club Headquarters.

What to bring:

  • Attendees should bring their own watercolours, brushes, paper, water pot, drawing board and clips/tape to hold paper down. Please email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. if you do not have any of these materials as we may be able to provide them to a limited number of participants.
  • Please bring a rug/stool to sit on for painting outdoors and wear warm clothing. Participants should come dressed for the weather and prepared with waterproof clothing and footwear.
  • Coffee and tea will be provided, but please bring a packed lunch.
