Join artist Helen Kennedy in the beautiful wildlife garden at the SOC headquarters for a workshop of drawing in the garden.

During the morning you will have the opportunity to explore different areas of the garden including the wildflower meadow and wildlife pond. Helen will spend time showing you plants and wildlife to look out for and guide you through a range of different drawing materials and mark making exercises. This will help you experiment with a variety of approaches to achieving colour, texture and form. To help record your inspiration and sketches you will be provided with your own concertina sketchbook, which you can take home as a memory of your time in the garden. During the workshop, Helen will tell you about gardens that have inspired artists and show you the current art exhibition ‘Impressions from the Garden’, which is on show in the SOC gallery.

All materials are provided in the course fee, (although please feel free to bring along any favourite paints or pencils that you wish to work with).

You will be working outside as much as possible, so please make sure you dress appropriately for the weather and bring along some sun cream and/or a sun hat!

This is half day workshop. You are very welcome to bring a packed lunch along with you to eat in the garden at the end of the session.

Places on this course are limited so please book early to avoid disappointment.
