Liz Myhill - Evocative encounters with the natural world

We are delighted to welcome watercolour painter and printmaker Liz Myhill, who will give a talk and demonstration offering a fascinating insight into her creative processes. Liz will share how she develops her work, the techniques she uses, and the sources of inspiration that guide her.

The evening will be chaired by well-known artist Lisa Hooper, whose experience and perspective will complement that of Liz.

About the talk:

Liz Myhill's works in painting and printmaking are rooted in the dynamic experience of working outside, on location, in all weather conditions. Liz captures the atmosphere of place, from rugged shorelines to icy mountains, and the wildlife that makes its home in these environments.

About our speaker:

Drawing outdoors whatever the weather, days on the trail of off the beaten path; from a blustery clifftop where seabirds soar and waves crash below, sitting motionless and concealed observing an otter family at play, camping under the stars high in the hills and mountains, or venturing into or beneath the waves with kayak or snorkel and drawing board.

These are the experiences that shape Liz's days. She loves to be outdoors, wandering wherever the whim takes her, surrounded by the rhythms of nature and changing seasons; and to complete her work entirely outside 'en plein air' where nature itself plays a hand in the act of creation.

Liz is a multi-aware winning artist from the Isle of Skye who is an elected member of the Society of Wildlife Artists and the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolour. She has worked internationally, travelling in North, Central and South America, Cuba, India and Scandinavia to undertake study trips and artist residencies. Liz currently spends most of her time working in locations across Scotland and partnering with conservation charities to celebrate its extraordinary wildlife and landscapes.
