Please join us at the SOC this summer and celebrate the beauty of the British garden.

Bustling with life and colour, gardens mean many things to many people. They come in all shapes and sizes, from small courtyard spaces to rambling, wild cottage gardens; productive vegetable plots hidden within walled boundaries and expansive, carefully landscaped vistas. They provide vital habitats for wildlife, offer opportunities for food production, and bring tranquillity and joy to those who spend time within them.

The artists in this exhibition present a vibrant and richly varied show, alive with plants, flowers and wildlife. Their work captures the essence of what we cherish most about gardens, from abundant borders to bountiful vases filled with dahlias and seasonal blooms, celebrating the way we bring the garden indoors to create beauty within our homes.

Featuring paintings by Jessie Ann Matthew, Clare Arbuthnott and Unity Coombes, alongside prints by Emily Sutton, Eve Sladdin and Amy Gillespie, the exhibition is further enhanced by artist Lynn Hynd, whose stunning floral arrangements weave through the gallery space.

At the opening, visitors can enjoy bouquets of locally grown, freshly cut flowers by Lottie Longman at our pop-up floristry shop. Once the exhibition has opened, it will also be available to view online.
