Joint exhibition by Emily Hogarth, Eilidh Muldoon, Barbara Gray and Anna Corbett
Join us at the SOC in early 2026 to celebrate the first murmurs of spring. This exhibition brings together four artists who are responding to the seasonal transition from winter to spring as experienced when looking out from the gallery space at Waterston House. The gallery overlooks the wildlife pond, salt marshes, and coastline of Aberlady Bay, a landscape that has provided both observation and inspiration.
Sweeping January and February skies frame the silhouette of murmurations, forming a backdrop to the quiet stirring of new growth that is emerging through the hedgerows and leaf litter. Glimpses of fresh colour appear in catkins and early spring flowers, whilst on the pond resident moorhens test the thinning ice with their yellow-stockinged legs. The work in this exhibition reflects the subtle shifts that signal the turning of the year.
Printmaking and papercuts by Emily Hogarth and Eilidh Muldoon are displayed alongside poetry by Barbara Gray. String maker and weaver Anna Corbett contributes sculptural works, plaiting and twisting gathered grasses, leaves and bark into nest-like forms that frame and connect the artworks. Together, these works offer a layered perspective on the new year.
