The Lothian Bird Report team is hard at work on the next edition, covering 2024. If you took bird photos in Lothian in 2024 and would like them to be considered for the report, please get in touch! Images can be submitted by

  • uploading them to the SOC gallery, making sure you tick the 'Grant SOC Permission' box. (If you'd rather not tick the box, please send a separate email to say that you're happy for your photos to be used in the report.)
  • sending them via a file transfer app such as DropBox or WeTransfer.
  • emailing them directly, provided the file size isn't excessive.
  • allowing us to download your photos from social media websites such as Twitter/X. (This is more difficult for us, and we might not have time to do a thorough search for your photos.)

For each photo, please let us know the species, the date the photo was taken, and the location. While rarities are nice, we also need good photos of common species. Unfortunately we can't use every photo we receive.
