This short exhibition taking place in the corridor and in the Library is an opportunity to see the collection of paintings by Donald Watson held by the SOC, alongside a selection from the extensive archive donated by Donald Watson’s family to the SOC. This includes fascinating sketchbooks and notebooks that the artist kept throughout his life, some of the sketchbooks are from his childhood and show his already consuming passion for birds and art!
The paintings, some of which have been reframed for the occasion, will be in the corridor while the archive materials will be on display in the Library. This is also an opportunity to shine a light on the SOC Archive and the treasures is contains. A new hanging system has been installed in the Library so that paintings held in the SOC archive can be showed there on a rotating basis.
