Hamza Yassin

Saturday 11 April 2026

The Scottish Ornithologists’ Club (SOC), a birdwatching charity, is inviting nature enthusiasts in Primaries 1 – 3 at Fife Council schools, to enter a competition for the chance to meet Hamza Yassin during the Easter holidays! You might recognise wildlife cameraman, author and TV presenter, Hamza Yassin from shows like CBeebies Let’s Go for a Walk and Ranger Hamza’s Eco Quest.

Ten lucky winners* will each have the chance to meet Hamza on Saturday 11 April, from 5pm – 6pm, at a location in Kirkcaldy. Each will receive a free signed copy of his children’s book, Hamza’s Wild World. If your child is interested in nature, wild animals and the world around them, this is the opportunity for them!

To enter: your child should submit a story, picture, video, song or poem around the theme of ‘My Wild World’. This could be about their favourite greenspace, an animal they love, birds in your garden, or a special wildlife moment they’ve experienced. Entries should be no longer than one page, or 2 minutes for videos/songs. The deadline for entries is Friday 3 April 2026. Entries should be emailed to development@the-soc.org.uk or posted to: Hamza competition, The SOC, Waterston House, Aberlady, EH32 0PY. All valid entries will be entered into a draw, and ten winners will be selected at random.

Please make sure to include the following alongside your child’s entry:

  • Child’s name
  • Name of primary school
  • Parent/carer contact details so we can notify you if your child’s entry is drawn

We can’t wait to see what they come up with!

The competition forms part of the Club’s 90th anniversary celebrations. Hamza will also be presenting an evening talk, Q & A and book signing for adults/children ages 12+. Visit www.the-soc.org.uk/pages/event/hamza-yassin-event for details.
