Watching Kittiwakes

This year, the Club's Clyde Branch will generously subsidise young birders to help them attend the SOC's Annual Conference.

The Conference, which takes place on Saturday 22 November at Kilmardinny House in Bearsden, will offer an engaging and unique programme covering some of the most exciting topics in birdwatching and conservation today.

SOC has long offered support to young birders looking to attend the event, but we are thrilled to announce that Clyde Branch will offer additional funding to local young people with a passion for birds and nature. Helping these enthusiasts to join the Conference is a key part of the SOC’s efforts to cultivate a robust population of young naturalists to record, conserve, and advocate for birds across Scotland.

Clyde Branch Committee have generously pledged to subsidise 20 places for young birders, which would allow the successful applicants to attend the Conference – including the full programme, tea and coffee, a buffet lunch, and optional dinner – for just £10 per person. You do not need to be an expert birder or naturalist; anyone who is under 30 years old, resident in the Glasgow City Region, passionate about nature, and who would struggle to come along without this support, is encouraged to apply.

The deadline for applications is Sunday 12 October at 5pm. All applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application by Friday 17 October, at the latest.
