Terms and Conditions

These Terms and Conditions apply to transactions for artwork sold via the Scottish Ornithologists' Club (SOC) to you (the customer). Please read them carefully.

Customer Orders

The purchase of artwork(s) from the SOC applies to artwork from the SOC gallery or online exhibition (via our website).

All artwork(s) purchased remotely via our online exhibition is sold framed. Unframed work from the browsers can only be purchased in person at the gallery. We do not post out unframed artwork(s) or sculpture(s).

The SOC can only send out artwork by courier that has a value up to £1900. For items that are more expensive you (the customer), must arrange a collection for the item.

To purchase artwork remotely you must phone the SOC (01875 871330), upon which we can check the availability of the piece and arrange payment over the phone.

If you are unable to collect your artwork in person, delivery can be arranged via our nominated art courier service. For items being delivered by courier service a shipping and packing fee will be applied. This fee will depend on the size and quantity of artwork(s) being purchased as well as the location for delivery.

The total price payable (including any courier fee), will be stipulated at the time when you place your order and payment will be taken over the phone at this point. Please note that the SOC is entitled to adjust the price to take account of any increase in courier prices (that were not known at the time of sale), or if due to an error or omission the price published for the goods is wrong. Should this happen, we will inform you of the correct price and give you the opportunity to cancel the order. All prices are inclusive of VAT.

Please note that we are unable to reserve any artwork(s) without receiving full payment for the item.

Please be aware that all photographs of artwork(s) that appear on our website in the online exhibition have been taken by the artists (before framing). Therefore, no frames are shown. As all work is sold framed, if you wish to see the frame before purchasing a piece, please call us (01875 871330), and we can email a photo to you.

It is worth noting that due to the variations in monitors and browsers, colour reproduction on the internet is not precise. Whilst we do our best to ensure accurate colour representation, please be aware that colours in our online exhibition may vary slightly to the colour of the physical product.

Delivery/Collection of Orders

Sold artwork(s) will only be released for delivery/collection at the end of each exhibition period, unless an alternative arrangement has been made with you (the customer). This date will be provided upon sale of the item.

Once the exhibition has finished you will be notified that your artwork(s) can be collected (in person) from the gallery or is out for delivery with our nominated art courier service. The courier service will be in touch directly with you (the customer), to arrange a suitable delivery time for the artwork(s). Please be aware that your contact details will be shared with the courier company so they can do this.

Delivery by courier is to your front door. In the case of heavier items, please ensure you can move the goods from your doorstep into your house.

Any delivery dates and times quoted are approximate as we use third party courier companies. While we make every effort to accommodate customer requests, no guarantee of time can be given.

Upon receipt of your artwork(s), please check and report any faults or transit damage within 24 hours (by phone 01875 871330 or email exhibitions@the-soc.org.uk). Failure to do this may affect the return of your item.

Artwork can only be delivered in the UK. We currently do not sell or send items outside of the UK.

Cancellation/Returns

If you wish to cancel an order (before the item has left the gallery for delivery), please let us know immediately (and within 14 days) of placing the order, upon which the order will be cancelled, and you will receive a refund.

We hope that you will love your new artwork(s), however, if you are not satisfied, you have 14 days upon receipt, to inform us (by phone 01875 871330 or email exhibitions@the-soc.org.uk), that you wish to return it. You have a full 30 days to return your artwork(s). A refund for the artwork will only be issued following the safe return of the item. Please read the notes below about ‘How to Return Artwork’.

HOW TO RETURN ARTWORK - IMPORTANT, PLEASE READ:

All artwork(s) being returned MUST travel via our specified art courier service. This will be arranged by the SOC upon notification that you wish to make a return.

Repack the item in the original packaging it came in – and add further packaging if necessary to ensure your package endures a courier return. Please note the artwork(s) must be in the original condition you received it in - with regret, we can't accept a return without its original packaging or a package that has been damaged during return transit.

Once we have received and checked your returned artwork(s), a refund for the artwork will be issued. We regret that the SOC is unable to cover the cost of return courier fees, and this amount will be deducted from your refund. If you are returning an item that was damaged or faulty (during transit from the SOC gallery), the SOC will pay the return courier fee.

Please note: refunds can take up to 30 days from receipt of returned goods to be processed.
