The personal details supplied on this form will be held by SOC in a secure environment. We will share personal details with HMRC solely for the purposes of recovering tax on Gift Aid (if applicable). Other than HMRC, we will not share personal data with any third party, other than that required by law. The SOC will use your details to administer your membership unless you active sign-up to our mailing list. Name(s) of new members are passed to the Local Branch and postal details supplied to our mailing house for the distribution of the Club’s mailings, including the quarterly journal.

If paying by Direct Debit, bank details are only shared with the Bacs-approved and FCA-regulated bureau that we use to process Direct Debit payments. If paying by Credit or Debit card, in order to minimise the risk of security incidents, SOC fully outsource all payment processing to FoxyCart.com. FoxyCart is PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) Compliant as a Level 1 Service Provider, and is listed on both Visa and MasterCard's global registries. Anytime you submit payment information via the Club's website, you are submitting through FoxyCart's secure infrastructure. If you opt to save your payment information during checkout, that information is stored at FoxyCart. SOC don't have access to your payment details except for the last 4 digits, the card type, and the expiration date.

The Direct Debit Guarantee

  • This Guarantee is offered by all banks and building societies that accept instructions to pay Direct Debits
  • If there are any changes to the amount, date or frequency of your Direct Debit Scottish Ornithologists' Club will notify you 10 working days in advance of your account being debited or as otherwise agreed. If you request Scottish Ornithologists' Club to collect a payment, confirmation of the amount and date will be given to you at the time of the request
  • If an error is made in the payment of your Direct Debit, by Scottish Ornithologists' Club or your bank or building society, you are entitled to a full and immediate refund of the amount paid from your bank or building society. If you receive a refund you are not entitled to, you must pay it back when Scottish Ornithologists' Club asks you to.
  • You can cancel a Direct Debit at any time by simply contacting your bank or building society. Written confirmation may be required. Please also notify us.
