This year, the Club's Lothian Branch and an anonymous donor, are offering support to help young birder enthusiasts attend the SOC's Annual Conference.
The Conference, which takes place on Saturday 3 October at The Venue, Eskmills, Musselburgh, will offer an engaging and unique programme celebrating 90 years of birdwatcher’s contributions to Scottish ornithology.
SOC has a long-standing commitment to encouraging young people to take part in Conference, recognising the valuable networking and learning opportunities it provides. Thanks to this generous support, 15 subsidised places are available, allowing successful applicants to attend for £15 per person.
The subsidised rate includes:
- The full Conference programme
- Tea and coffee during intervals
- A buffet lunch
Subsidised places are limited and will be allocated through an application process:
Application deadline:
Thursday 25 June 2026 at 5pm
Notification of outcome: by Thursday 2 July 2026
Who can apply?
The Conference subsidy scheme is open to those who satisfy all of the following criteria (please note that priority will be given to Club members):
- Aged under 30
- Resident in Scotland
- Passionate about nature, although you don't need to be an expert!
- Would struggle to attend the Conference without this support
